* Keyboards with different backlights are not interchangeable with each other.
* If your original laptop keyboard doesn't have a backlight and you want to replace it with a backlit laptop keyboard, please make sure that there is a backlight interface on your motherboard.
If the keyboard backlight isn't working, try these steps:
-
Check the cable: Make sure the backlight cable is firmly and correctly connected to the motherboard. Loose connections can cause the backlight to stop working.
-
Test in BIOS or Safe Mode: Boot your device into BIOS or Safe Mode and see if you can turn on the backlight. This helps figure out if the problem is with the OS settings or a deeper hardware/software issue.
-
Update BIOS: Install the latest BIOS version from the manufacturer’s site. An old BIOS might not support the backlight properly or have related bugs.
-
Power cycle: Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery. Wait 15 - 30 seconds, then put the battery back, plug in the adapter, and turn on your device. This often fixes temporary glitches with the backlight.
